Aliens
03:35
|
|||
they set out for a future that would serve the children well
through the waters put some distance between themselves and hell
they had money they were glad to trade for some documents and a name
for family they had photographs, gathered in a frame
They learned to speak the native tongue, they had hoped to make a friend
but the meaning of the words they never seemed to understand
when they tried to make a joke, it somehow didn't seem so kind
and with the help of time became what they tried to leave behind
they were aliens, in a foreign land
searching for a better world, but crashing somewhere else
oh they were aliens, something less than man
a threat to people's happiness, and trouble for their minds
the money wasn't hard to make, but it was hard to keep
the hole they made a home in every day a bit more deep
when the children had adjusted, had a life to call their own
they put to use those documents, across the waters that led back home
but they were aliens, in a foreign land
searching for a world they knew, but finding something else
they were aliens, to their countryman
with different views on happiness that troubled the people's mind
they kept crossing waters to find a place where they belonged
and though they had each other, they couldn't help but feel alone
the search became a joke that somehow didn't seem so kind
but with the help of time they came to understand
that we're all aliens, in a foreign land
coming from a better world, and headed somewhere else
oh we are aliens, and somehow also man
here to bring some happiness, and trouble...
because we're aliens, in a foreign land
searching for a better world, but crashing somewhere else
oh we are aliens, and with our fellow man
we're looking for some happiness, and a little peace of mind

If Heaven
04:04
|
|||
if heaven is a place where no one ever wakes up
to the rising of the sun for there's nothing left to do,
if I'm headed for some promised land where my purpose is to rest
don't sign me up; don't sign me up
and if heaven is a place where some make it and some are left out
by the choices that were made when we didn't understand,
if there's no one left to fight for, there's nothing left to learn,
don't sign me up; don't sign me up
now get up and open up your eyes,
and don't stand by; don't wait for your reward,
don't stand by; don't wait for your reward
if heaven is a place where the clouds are all beneath us
for the softening of our steps, the sky is always blue,
if there's not a mountain left to climb or dancing in the rain,
don't sign me up; don't sign me up
now get up and open up your eyes,
and don't stand by; don't wait for your reward,
don't stand by; don't wait for your reward
'cause there's a morning on the rise
with a dark and scattered mind
and there's a chance to be alive
if heaven is a place, if today is just a memory,
if redemption has to wait, if we are not the world,
if time can drive a wedge between myself and God,
don't sign me up; don't sign me up

Revolutions
06:10
|
|||
voices proclaim a revolution, innocent man, you're seen as the solution
hands rise in hope of execution, but will we stand?
this world, a part of the illusion, the feelings of man, another institution
combined, a sinister collusion, and fear, the son
don't yield now
hate not one
love endowed
we are strong
silence, a weapon of delusion, fiddles and rhymes, aiming for confusion
fire! reversing evolution, what have we won?
don't yield now
hate not one
love endowed
we are strong
I came along as a father, I came along as a friend
I came along as your mother, and you took me by the hand, woa, woa
I came along as your brother, I came looking for a friend
I came along for my daughters, and I ain't going back again, no-o, no-o

“I was practically mesmerized by this [group]. The sound from the electric cello, the percussive acoustic, and the perfect pitch harmonies would rivet one to the stage at times.” -George Douglas Lee, Island Guide Magazine
